Types of Psychological Assessments
School Psychologists use a wide variety of techniques to evaluate:
Assessment Options:
Academic/Pre-Academic Achievement: These test measure current reading written language, and arithmetic skills or skills such as matching or sorting.
Intellectual Development: These tests measure how well a student remembers what she/he has experienced and how well she/ he can use that information and how she/he problem solves. They also reflect learning rate and assist in predicting how well she/he will do at school. Verbal and performance instruments are used as appropriate.
Social/Adaptive Behavior: These scales of development help indicate what an individual can do himself/herself and how she/he gets along with other people. They assess level of social maturity, interpersonal skills and/or perceived self-concept. Some of these scales also measure attention skills.
Other Assessment: Observation - These include classroom observations, functional behavior assessments, and autism spectrum evaluations.
